We are located on the 5th floor of the Engineering and Computer Science (ECS) building at the University of Victoria, in Room 548.
Trips can be planned with Google Maps or with the BC Transit website, if you are using public transportation.

 

Parking at the University of Victoria

Parking Lot A is the closest parking lot to the Engineering and Computer Science building and features metered and disabled parking. For general parking, the closest parking lot to the building is Parking Lot 1.

Direct Routes from the Victoria International Airport (YYJ) to the University of Victoria

Taxi: The three largest taxi services in Victoria, BC are Yellow Cab of Victoria, Bluebird Cabs, and Victoria Taxi. These taxi services travel directly from the Victoria International Airport to the University of Victoria. Taxis can drop-off at the front of the Engineering and Computer Science building by pulling into the entrance path or by parking temporarily in Parking Lot A. The average cost of a taxi from Victoria International Airport (YYJ) to the University of Victoria is $60 and the travel time is about 40 minutes.
Airport Shuttle (The YYJ Airport Shuttle): The YYJ Airport Shuttle service offers transportation to the University of Victoria. The university is considered a “special drop-off location” and cost $29 for a one-way adult ticket. Travel times vary. Call for details and schedules.
Note: It is possible to take public transportation from the Victoria International Airport to the University of Victoria, but this will require 2 bus exchanges and will take about 90 minutes. The fastest routes between the airport and the campus vary by time of day and the desired walking distance. The best route can be designed on the BC Transit website. Transit plans can be constructed by arrival or departure time. For this trip, it is best to purchase a day pass for $5.00 (cash only) on the bus.

Direct Routes from Downtown to the University of Victoria

Public Transportation: The following bus routes travel to the University of Victoria through the downtown area (links lead to individual schedules and maps):
– 4 UVic/Downtown
– 11 Tillicum Mall/UVic
– 14 Vic General/UVic
– 15 UVic Express/Downtown Express
Bus fare is $2.50 per trip or $5.00 for a day pass. Fares purchased on the bus must be purchased in cash. Passes for 10 ticket packages and monthly passes can also be purchased. These passes can be purchased using credit, debit, or cash at a variety of locations throughout the city.
The closest bus stop to the Engineering and Computer Science building is in front of Parking Lot 1 on Ring Road, across from the Bob Wright Centre (Ocean, Earth, and Atmospheric Sciences Building).
Transportation via BC Transit can be planned via the BC Transit website. Transit plans can be constructed by arrival or departure time. Travel times vary by bus route. Travel to campus by express bus can take 25-30 minutes. Travel to campus by general bus routes can take 30-45 minutes.
Taxi: Yellow Cab of Victoria, Bluebird Cabs, and Victoria Taxi offer services between downtown Victoria and the University of Victoria. Taxis can drop-off at the front of the Engineering and Computer Science building by pulling into the entrance path or by parking temporarily in Parking Lot A. The average cost of a taxi from downtown Victoria to the University of Victoria is $30 and the travel time is about 25 minutes.

Arriving to Downtown Victoria from the Victoria International Airport (YYJ)

Airport Shuttle (The YYJ Airport Shuttle): Besides stopping at the University of Victoria upon request, the YYJ Airport shuttle stops at predetermined locations throughout the city. The standard ticket price is $25 for a one-way adult ticket. Late evening tickets (to the downtown area only) can be purchased between 9pm and daily closing time at the YYJ Airport Shuttle kiosk in the airport and cost $15 for a one-way adult ticket.
Taxi: The average cost of a taxi from Victoria International Airport (YYJ) to downtown Victoria is $65-$70.
Public Transportation: The two public buses that travel directly to the airport are the 83 and the 88 bus lines. To travel to downtown, however, a bus exchange is necessary. Both the 83 and 88 buses stop at the McTavish Bus Exchange. From this exchange, the 70, 71, or 72 buses can be caught. These buses travel through the city via Hwy 1/Douglas Street and terminate at the British Columbia Legislature Building. Fare must be paid in cash and travel time will be between 60 minutes.

Arriving to Downtown Victoria from the BC Ferries Terminal

Taxi: The average cost of a taxi from the BC Ferries Terminal to downtown Victoria is $70-$75.
Public Transportation: The 70, 71, and 72 buses travel from the ferry terminal to downtown. These buses travel through the city via Hwy 1/Douglas Street and terminate at the British Columbia Legislature Building. Fare from the terminal is $2.50 for 1 trip or $5.00 for a day pass. Fare must be paid in cash.

Where to Stay

The top three websites for finding rental properties in Victoria are Used Victoria, Craigslist, and Kijiji. Used Victoria is based in the greater Victoria area and often features more listings than Craigslist and Kijiji. The University of Victoria has also partnered with Placesforstundents.com to provide information about off-campus housing for both renters and landlord.  Craigslist and Kijiji have pages specifically for temporary rentals in the Victoria area and furnished temporary rentals can also be reserved via Vacation Rental by Owner.
